FluentOS does not collect your content. There is no account and no sign-in. We do not know who you are, what you look up, or what you study. What we collect is three anonymous counts — two on this website, one from the app — described below. There are no advertising trackers here and no cross-site tracking of any kind.

What is never sent. The text you look up, the translations you get back, your flashcards, your review history, the languages you choose, the names of apps or windows you use, URLs, screenshots, clipboard contents, filenames, your location, and any advertising or device identifier. None of it leaves your Mac. FluentOS does not store IP addresses in its product telemetry dataset. What we do count, below, exists to understand basic product adoption — how many people find the site, how many download it, and how many get a first translation working. It is never sold, never shared for advertising, and never used to build a profile.

This website counts two things. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views: it sets no cookie, stores nothing on your device, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not record the query string of the address you arrived on. Separately, when you click Download, our own server records that single click — plus the values of utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign if you arrived through a campaign link, so we can tell which channels work. That record is a bare count with no identifier attached: no account, no device ID, no cookie, nothing that could tie it to you or to any other visit. Nothing else from the address is kept, and we do not store IP addresses in that dataset.

The app counts one thing, once. The first time a translation succeeds on your Mac, FluentOS sends us a single message that says only that a translation succeeded somewhere. That is the whole message — it carries no identifier of any kind, no account, no device or installation ID, no cookie, no version, and none of the text involved. Your Mac remembers that it has been sent so it is not sent again. It tells us how many downloads turn into someone actually using the app, and nothing else. Nothing is sent for any later translation, ever. You can switch it off in Settings → Privacy → “Share Anonymous Activation”; with it off, nothing is sent and nothing is saved to send later, so turning it off before your first translation means it is never sent at all.

Translation happens on your Mac. FluentOS uses Apple's on-device Translation framework. The text you look up is processed locally and is never sent to us or to any third party. Language models are downloaded once from Apple when you choose your target language.

Your flashcards stay local. Your review deck, lookup history, and usage statistics are stored as files in your Mac's Application Support folder. They never leave your machine unless you export them yourself.

Permissions are used only at the moment of lookup. Accessibility permission lets FluentOS read the word under your cursor when you press the hotkey. Screen Recording permission (optional) enables the OCR fallback for apps that don't expose their text. Neither is used for anything else; nothing is recorded, captured in the background, or stored beyond the lookup itself.

Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy. Premium is unlocked with a license key emailed to you after checkout. Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record and handles payment and tax; we never see your card details. The app sends your license key to Lemon Squeezy to confirm it is valid, and nothing else.

The network requests FluentOS makes are: Apple's one-time translation-model download, periodic update checks against our update server, license validation with Lemon Squeezy, and the single anonymous first-translation count described above. None of them carries personal information.
